TURKEY,JUNE 2009

It really has been a long stretch since my last update.I'd like to share with you photos of our familly trip to KALKAN in the Western part of Antalia in Turkey. A quiet fishing village inhabited by the freindliest and most soft spoken people. Breathtaking views coloured by the red rock mountains, layered in Ollive trees and sloping into their turquoise ice cold sea..

The next part of our trip was a contrasting encounter. The Hustle and bustle of the congested city of Istanbul kept us all on our toes. We loved the museums and historical mosques. Our accomadation was in close vicinity to the renowned Galatta Tower. With and entourage of restaurants and busy night life, our eyes were kept wide open and stomachs always fully satisfied.

Wabi-sabi

Wabi-sabi represents a comprehensive Japanese world view or aesthetic centered on the acceptance of transience. The phrase comes from the two words wabi and sabi. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete" .It is a concept derived from the Buddhist assertion of the Three marks of existence specifically impermanence. Characteristics of the wabi-sabi aesthetic include asymmetry, asperity, simplicity, modesty, intimacy, and suggest a natural process.
